When it comes to resolving symptoms, good tools make all the difference.
The detailed imaging of LoRETA neurofeedback means your training is more specific to your goals, with far fewer sessions are required to see results. That is why the vast majority of experienced clinicians (10 years plus) use this method of neurofeedback in their clinics, and why we use it in ours.
What is LoRETA neurofeedback?
LoRETA’s full name is QEEG guided LoRETA Z-score NFB. The description is in the name.
QEEG Guided
A QEEG is a picture of your brain activity; our ‘eyes’ to see your inner state. Your therapist uses the QEEG to tailor your neurofeedback programme to your brain activity, your symptoms, and your goals.
During your sessions, subsequent QEEGs allow us to adjust your training as you change. After your sessions, a simple comparison allows you to see your progress too.
Loreta 3D Imaging
Using a full 19 sensor array, LoRETA (Low Resolution Electromagnetic Tomography) gives a real-time 3D image of your brain activity.
With LoRETA imaging, we are able to train deep brain areas; entire networks (brain highways), coherence (connectivity), processing speed (phase) and more; all crucial factors in optimal brain functioning.
In practice, this means that we can train all the brain areas involved in your symptoms as a unit; the better imaging and coverage means better efficiency, which in turn means half to a third the number of sessions of traditional (individual sensor) neurofeedback.
Z-Score
If you want to see if something is out of balance, you need a baseline (z-score) to know if your levels are higher or lower than is comfortable. Similarly, neurofeedback practitioners use baselines to see what areas of your brain to train, and how much training is needed.
No two brains are the same, however a comfortable state looks identical in all of us. Training towards this comfortable state is perfect when you want to solve a particular problem or issue, but for training above the average (mental skills or peak-performance training), we train ‘old-school’; without Z-scores. In this case, we are working to enhance skills rather than training towards a comfortable average.
Sessions
Sessions are scheduled one-to-one with a professional neurofeedback therapist, either in our London clinic or remotely operated at home.
